RE: Transfer switch
Almot, Some inverter chargers have an autoformer built in. That's the route I chose. That means the transfer to the inverter is totally seamless.
Goodbye to so many talented folks. I suspect lots may drop out after today.
Don, why are we loosing those talented folks?
Thanks

RE: Microwave failure after just 2 years...why?
Microwaves have a fuse inside. Check that fuse before you spend big $$.
Most microwave manufactures use safety fasteners that may require you to purchase special fastener drivers.

Or you could run the water line above ground and put a LOW POINT DRAIN on it.

RE: batteries in the winter
There is no reason to remove the batteries for winter. If you have a smart charger/inverter then just plug in and check the water once or twice during the winter. If you only have a one stare charger, put a timer on its power cord and set it for 2 hours a day.
My coach is plugged in during the winter and the batteries only come out when needing to be changed. Kip It Simple..........

RE: slight vibration on acceleration
Also, a plug wire starting to fail will cause a misfire while under acceleration, causing a vibration.

RE: Are rooftop AC units standardized for mounting?
Typical RV ACs sit on the roof on top of a gasket. Maybe a shim and 2 gaskets for your height?

What you describe, I believe is a lean run issue. I.E. carb or fuel filter.

RLS, I will call Winnebago to make sure. RVdoc said otherwise. Doug
Why would you call Winnebago to question my Fleetwood response?

If you MH is a 1986 or later Fleetwood product, it is designed to charge all batteries when plugged in.

RE: How to keep gray water from coming up into tub?
Our MH has 2 50 gallon waste tanks, which don't make much design sense.
I installed a pump to transfer gray water into the black tank. That way we can store all the water we use from our 100 gallon fresh water tank.

When I had a problem like yours, I found the bowed connectors in the plugs were getting flat. I used a dental pick to rebow the connectors and all was well. Spent zero $$.............

RE: 2000 Hurricane 34K winterizing
I blow out my class A water lines every fall. You can not blow out all the cavities in the water pump, so I pump a touch of antifreeze in the pump. Of course you have to drain the water heater and take the necessary precautions for the ice maker. Undo the ice maker water line from the valve to drain it. Remove line feeding the ice maker valve to blow out the water line.
This has worked for mw for over 30 years.

I replaced the noisy little fan with a 4"x4" 12 volt computer box fan.
Less noise and enough air movement.

RE: Pex crimpers
Flair It would be my choice for Pex.
You can hand tighten the fitting on pex, so you can get into those tight spots.
I carry a supply of Flair It in my MH.
Richard
P.S. And you can unscrew Flair It and take it apart by hand and then put it back together with out any cutting.

RE: 1994 FLEETWOOD FLAIR 22 FT
There may be 2 support structures, 14" apart, running the length of you coach. That's what Fleetwood did when they built my 95 Bounder. Get a stud finder and have a look. You could fasten to those supports if they exist.

RE: Electric Outlets
The devices that have the wire wrap around a screw are not appropriate for the vibration environment in an RV. You need to choose ones with screw clamps, often labeled as "commercial". Even back-stab connections are more reliable than wrapped screws in an RV.
People often say that RV self-contained devices are junk, but the ones by the major suppliers are approved by UL and CL and are perfectly safe. They are specified in the National Electric Code (NEC). They do have to be installed correctly using a special tool.
People used to say that crimp connections were junk, however that is the only kind of connection you will find in a modern automobile because they are the most reliable.
Exactly!
The RV receptacles are good if installed correctly.
Screw downs get loose shaking down the road.
Look at how many problems have ben posted about circuit breaker panels.
The OEM receptacles in my 95 Bounder are still good.
They get used for 1500 watt heaters with no problem.
